CottageThis cottage garden in Menlo Park has been a collaboration between the owner and Julia and her staff for over 10 years.  It is an expression of the owner's exuberance, and her passion for collecting all things beautiful.

The garden is dotted with antique iron gates, weather vanes, benches, and simple bird Cottage_2baths and jardinieres that are scrubbed and filled with fresh water each week.

Although filled with an enormous variety of different plants, color schemes hold the garden together and give it a sense of cohesiveness.  Peachy pinks and purples are used in the back yard; red, white, and blue in the front yard; and pinks and whites in the side courtyard.

Cottage Picture 3A mason with artistic talent, Victor Garcia sculpted from scratch a charming walkway, winding and sloping as it leads to the front of the house.  With hundreds of cuts and adjustments he created a herringbone pattern of bricks with points always facing in the direction of the path. After installing turf blocks in the front parking strip, he edged the beds with a low wall which he formed with a delightful mixture of cobble and pink quartz.
